Panasonic Toughbooks are preferred by John Deere Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics because they are rugged & designed to take a beating in the most brutal environments suck as the scorching heat, sub-zero winter temperatures and even in the heavy rain.
The screen is Sunlight Readable. Most laptop screens will washout in very direct bright light. It is also a Touchscreen so you can using your finger or a stylus pen to manage your John Deere Service Advisor software & JD EDL adapter.
The touchpad is also pressure sensitive so even if your fingers are dirty or greasy it will still work precisely, unlike consumer laptops that work based on an electrical charge. You could even be wearing gloves and it would still work... Try that on a "Made in China" consumer laptop.
The outside of Toughbook is a Tough Magnesium Alloy making it 20x stronger than cheap plastics used in typical consumer laptops like Dell, Lenovo, etc. You can drop this from a 6' height and it would still work fine! Go on YouTube and search: Toughbook + Abuse and you will see for yourself.
If you work on Heavy Duty deisel equipment like John Deere Service Advisor JD EDL or Volvo equipment, there is no better laptop than a Panasonic Toughbook. These are used by police and military because of their reliability and toughness.

I bought the John Deere Service Advisor 5.3 system from Mektool pre-installed on the Panasonic Toughbook CF-31, and it has been exactly what I needed for my shop. The unit arrived fully set up and plug-and-play – no complicated installation or extra software to mess with.
It handles diagnostics on our agricultural and construction equipment quickly and accurately. Very happy with the performance and reliability after several months of daily use.
The only negative was the unexpected customs / brokerage fee of $65, but that is more of an American tariff issue on all imports... Not their fault
